about us

The St. Michaels Museum is a fundamental part of the St. Michaels community and part of what makes St. Michaels walking village a fun place to live and visit. Tourists and residents alike enjoy the museum for the vivid interpretation of St. Michaels’ culture and history, including the historic artifacts and the stories of the people preserved as oral histories, and a continuing calendar of dynamic programs and activities. Children learn to value and appreciate St. Michaels’ history because of the museum’s participatory programs and activities both in the classroom and on-site. Walking Tours Docent led walking tours of historic St. Michaels are offered each Saturday at 10am from May through October. Tours last about 90 minutes and entail around ½ mile of walking. Tours require a donations of $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 12-17, and children under 12 are free. You can also arrange for private tours for 5 or more. Please call (410) 745-9561 or contact us for reservations. There are currently two different guided walking tours available. Frederick Douglass, a Slave in St. Michaels 1833-1836 is conducted on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month. Historic St. Michaels: People, Places, and Events is conducted on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month. Self Guided Tours: If you would rather take the tour yourself, stop by the museum to pick up a copy of “A Walking Tour of St. Michaels” or you can download a copy of the tour guide by clicking here.
